About Us

A food gift company with a difference.

Manufacturer | Wholesaler | Retailer | Café

Manufacturing and wholesaling since 1991, the family-owned Kiwi company had humble beginnings.

It started at the Takapuna markets where mum Linda and her kids would camp out to get the “best spot” to sell the fudge and cookies made in their home kitchen after school and work. Dad thought they were “mad”.

The business grew, their previous jobs were left behind, and a factory was opened.

The wholesale business continued to grow from strength to strength with Cottage Fare’s fudge becoming well known in the route trade.

As the manufacturing customer base and the distribution network were geared to the route trade, the company turned its attentions to gift lines.

Rococo Gifts was born, initially as a brand supplying the gift trade through customers like Smith & Caughey’s, Farmers, and Woolworths.

Sales were great but margins were not. Subsequently, the brand became the business and Rococo transitioned to a food and gift company–now with its own website, retail shop, and its latest addition: a Café. The manufacturing and wholesaling remains an integral part of the business and has also been relocated to the new address.

Rococo’s point of difference is manufacturing. Most of what the company sells is made using local produce, and if it doesn’t make it itself, it sources it from local companies. For whatever is not available locally, it buys trusted European brands.

Its early days for the café but the Rococo team has grand hopes for its future. They love the customer contact and the ever-increasing diversity of products. Of course there are challenges in hospitality but they are enthusiastically meeting them head on.

See them on Facebook, view the online shop at www.rococogifts.co.nz or better still visit at the Café and retail shop in person at 39C Cavendish Drive, Manukau City, open Monday to Saturday. They would love to see you.
